OUI..! c'est Percy P encore.....!!

So here's the thing....!  When Percy Pelican maneuvered his way through the pylons he rose up into the sky above the bridge to find a spot where he could get a better perspective of the situation and settled on one of the overhead lights on the Freeway heading south with nary a thought for the traffic speeding by underneath him..I have heard that on a good day, probably more in the cooler weather, you can at times find a row of pelicans one on each of the overhead lights, trying to keep warm...I'm definitely coming back for THAT shot.....!! He did look kind of impressive with his wing feathers blowing in the breeze and a rather 'snooty' expression....

    Very nice. Again, it is a pelican but not like ours. So much prettier...ours are brown/gray. And if they think you have fish they'll pester the heck out of you!

    Pelicans are such massive animals. I did not realise until last year that what we regard as Pelicans are very different from pelicans in North America.

    This is funny. I have seen pelicans on posts on boat docks in California and Florida, but not on street lights. I see them fly overhead in Costa Rica all the time. (I don't see the on street lights in Tamarindo because we do not have street lights.)

    Here we have only small gulls on street lamps.. Pelicans are definitively much more impressive!

    Whoa .. Never seen a pelican atop a traffic light before. Now there's a sight. Hope it didn't stop the traffic.

    I lived in a small village in Greece, Crete, for a while, and there was the village pelican, begging in the few cafes around. His name was Canari, strangely enough. He absolutely loved french fries!

    I guess it's too cold here in winter for them so we don't have them. Looking forward to seeing them warming up on the lights next winter!

    Unique, and not what we see here up in Norway. But I have seen several in the north of Greece. They came back, year after year.

    Love it!

    On the highway into Boston, there's a spot where several hawks like to perch on the light posts along the highway. They blend in so well you'd hardly notice them, whizzing by, unless you're a raptor-nut like me - though I do not recommend hawk-spotting at rush hour, makes for some dicey driving. ;-)

    This to me is such a typically Aussie scene! I used to live near The Entrance NSW where pelicans are numerous and often perch on similar lamp posts. Great memories...
