A moment of contemplation..

One of those quick shots clicked while walking by.. the young lady here deep in thought, not a mobile in sight, her faithful companion standing guard at her side. There is a lot to contemplate in these uncertain times, she picked a pretty spot to do so. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

In the dog box..

Look at all those sad eyes! Now and then I will hear about a new piece of street art and go in search of it, usually with a stop for coffee along the way :)  but more often than not I come across them by luck. Yesterday we went for a walk around Lake Gwelup and found a super cute Splash of Colour utility box painting by Otto Art. Why so sad guys, you are right next to an off the lead nature walk around the lake.. perfect spot for this mural. Hope you had a good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

The Pinnacles.. walking on the moon.

On the way home from Lesueur National Park (yesterday's post) on Wednesday we stopped in Nambung National Park to see the Pinnacles. A surreal sight it was, the weathered limestone pillars, some small and squat some tall and thin, some of the tallest reaching up to 7mt, stretched out over a vast area as far as the eye could see. We were the only ones there and quietly standing amongst these bizarre formations was an otherworldly experience. There are three major theories as to how and why the pinnacles formed, if you are interested that info is HERE..

It's hard to imagine that a sign would be required but this is the world we live in.. I have to admit the French instruction made me smile :) Happy Friday, hope you have a good weekend, see you on Monday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. can you imagine how cool it would be to take photos here at sunrise or sunset, would look amazing.

Lesueur National Park..

Country trip yesterday to Lesueur National Park, a 500 km round trip Setting off at 8am arriving home 6pm. We are a week or so away from official spring in Australia, you know what that means.. wildflower season :) Driving up along the coast road we were never far from the Indian Ocean on one side, bush and farming land on the other. Below just a few of the flowers we saw and a few shots along the way. There was another reason for this trip, something that unbelievably in all the years we have been here I haven't seen before.. show you tomorrow. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. Did I mention it was the perfect blue sky coming up for the end of winter day!

Four in two out..

Spotted the Little Free Library in Maylands when I was taking mon amie française Marie home and as she had just returned to moi the four books I had lent her we stopped to put said four books into the little library and took two out, fair exchange :) I love the idea of these well used little libraries and should imagine for those who can't get to a big library they could be a lifesaver. As yet I have not come across any of these tiny book holders that have been vandalised, one should never underestimate the power of books :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Red-tailed black cockatoo..

In Subiaco to have brunch with Aimee at the weekend I was unaware of and delighted to find a new and fabulous red-tailed black cockatoo mural painted by WA artist James Giddy whose murals 'can be found throughout Western Australia, in New South Wales, Queensland as well as internationally in India, America, South Africa and Indonesia'. You may also remember the murals to the side painted in 2017 by Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel that I posted on the blog HERE. In the last shot the view from our table in my new favourite Subiaco cafe Mimosa, diagonally opposite the restaurant in yesterday's post, all round it was a good weekend :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

George's Mezé..

'A taste of Greece in the heart of Subiaco'. That is George's Meze looking wonderfully Mediterranean under Perth skies in it's blue and white paintwork, gorgeous red and pink geraniums blooming beautifully in their pots. Despite the many changes going on all around it this lovely old Subi house with it's lovely gardens has been here as long as I can remember. It has been a while since we last enjoyed a meal here but we were in Subiaco for another reason which I'll show you tomorrow. All I can think about now though is the multilayered sweet lusciousness of a Baklava, I just know I will have to do something about that today :) Hope you had a good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..
