Deep sea creatures..

Sometimes not deep enough! Going down the stairwell on a visit to Watertown last week I came unexpectedly face to face with one of the most feared of all ocean creatures. A clue might have been the beautifully executed mural on the lift shaft at the top of the stairs. Now that my hamstring is back in shape I never take lifts when there are stairs available, if I had I would have missed the incredibly lifelike shark mural, both painted by WA muralist and portrait artist Susan Respinger whose work you have seen here before. I missed the much friendlier whale shark HERE (did that link work?) at the Wellington Street entrance to WT. Hope you had/are still having a good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

I have a lot to learn..

.. but I'm having a lot of fun trying :) A series of arty shots from yesterday evening on the beach just before sunset. I couldn't decide between the fiery shot above and the faded image below, so you have them both..

I liked the idea of a tiny glass orb below reflecting beach as far as the eye can see..

Then the sun began to sink making everything that little bit harder :) Am going to look up tutorials on ideas for using the lensball, the possibilities are limitless I should imagine. A small group of curious spectators gathered, we chatted.. it was fun :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend, see you on Monday, happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

High Street Dispensary..

Do you ever find yourself sitting in a beautiful old heritage building, big windows out to the street, gorgeous high ceilings etc and wonder, as you are waiting for coffee.. and quite often a cake, what this building was originally used for. I posed this query to P who pointing to the menu said 'that could be a clue' :) I couldn't find out for sure, medicine may or may not have been dispensed from HERE sometime in the past but the coffee I had in the present certainly made me feel better. One minute after I took this shadow shot the table in front was occupied! Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Snakes alive..

It is impossible to miss the dynamic work of multi-disciplinary artist Jackson Harvey. The artist's 'passion for creating large scale mural works that have the ability to transform spaces' is clearly evidenced on the wall of the Hyde Park Hotel in North Perth. You can see more of his work HERE, you may recognise some of his murals from previous posts. It was officially the first day of winter yesterday, the skies were blue and the temperature pleasantly warm. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

When I can travel again..

The theme for City Daily Photo bloggers for June is 'when I can travel again'. All going well and there are no closed borders at the time, we are planning a trip to see our Sydney family in September. By that time both P and I will have had our second Covid injection. These pics were taken a few years ago, my grandchildren are three years older now and get more wonderful each year as their personalities develop. Skype has been a godsend through the last while but there is nothing that can beat those little arms around one's neck :) Looking forward to seeing where other CDP'ers are heading when they can travel again. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Earthly spheres..

Fremantle is full of fascinating shops, apart from the many excellent bookshops and art galleries there is also the fantastic Chart and Map Shop (also books, globes and flags) now in its new home here on the High Street. All your Australia and world travel maps and information in one place.. which I feel is an opportune segue into June's theme for CDP'ers (City Daily Photo bloggers) which is 'when I can travel again'. Hope you had a wonderful weekend, it didn't rain but it poured here in Perth, was luvverly. Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Weekend reading..

As mentioned many times before one of my favourite places to peruse books is Elizabeth's Bookshop. I could spend hours in there, unfortunately I don't often have hours to do so. Knowing that it's going to be a cold and rainy few days I did stop in there this week and picked up two books for the weekend. Looking forward to snuggling up with Queen and it'll be the first book I've read by John Lawton, written in 2020, think he is a popular writer/television documentary producer in UK and USA, has anyone read any of his books? What are you reading this weekend? Happy Friday, see you on Monday, take care and stay safe..
