Saku Blossom Festival..

Sunday was the perfect spring day to visit the Saku Blossom Festival at the S&R Orchards in Walliston. We arrived early at 8am to avoid the many thousands of visitors who descend on the festival each year only to find that they had beaten us to it :) The trees look so pretty when in flower that it's twicky to stop clicking and even harder to pick a handful to show 🌸

As always there are plenty of props for photo ops, the bridge below was particularly popular.. at times it was like a 'how many people can fit on one small bridge' situation :) It's a fun day out for families with many activities plus lots of diverse food choices, you can even hire a kimono for above mentioned photo ops.. I tried to convince Aimee but she wasn't playing :) We didn't stay that long.. there were other fish to fry 🌷 Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

I could go on and on, there are so many great quotes about hands and who doesn't love a beautiful photographic image of hands, whether they be old and worldly-wise or young and chubby without a care. While we were on our travels yesterday taking in the 🌷festival and the 🌸festival I came across the evocative mural here in Memorial Park in Armadale. Painted by Melbourne based artist Matt Adnate last seen here (25 storey mural in the city) a few weeks ago. The park commemorates those who died in service or were killed in WW1, so a  fitting mural I think. It's going to be a flowery kind of week :) happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Ever changing skies..

A few pics taken in and around Elizabeth Quay last Wednesday all within half an hour, hard to imagine the sky could look so different in every shot! Above the Bell Tower below sharing space with its new neighbour the Ritz-Carlton opening later this year..

Man's best friend heading out to sea.. it was as if he sensed me trying to get a shot, he turned and jumped out of sight before I could get a close up :)

Remember the giant numbat here..  below is how it looks from way across the Swan River at Elizabeth Quay. When it is joined by the giant frilled-neck lizard I can see it will be quite a sight when on the ferry crossing to South Perth..

Pigeonhole reflections..

  Reflections of the No 2 Electric Light Sub-Station in the window of Pigeonhole, one of  Aimee's favourite shops. The multi level heritage listed Sub Station building c1914 is up for sale I believe. If  I win the HUGE lotto on Thursday (150million) I will buy it, refurbish it and make it a safe haven for homeless people, that would be so cool. First thing.. I better remember to get a ticket 😉Have a fab weekend, take care and stay safe..

Kangaroos.. what kangaroos!

It's a bit hard to resist the kangaroos on St Georges Terrace, especially when accompanied by pretty spring wildflowers 🌸   'Kangaroos on the Terrace' a sculpture comprising of five kangaroos by husband wife team Charles Smith and Joan Walsh-Smith is a huge draw card and photo op for visitors to the city.. 

Oh there you are :) How fab do the restored State Buildings look over the road in the background. I know you have seen the kangaroos before and you might see them again from a different angle.. a mob of kangaroos on a terrace in a city is not something you see everyday right :) Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Supreme Court of WA..

It was such a pretty day in the city yesterday. On the way back from Elizabeth Quay we took a shortcut back to St Georges Terrace through the Supreme Court Gardens. I love that they have kept the original gates although there are open walk-ins on either side and the gates remain closed :) The view below of the Supreme Court of WA built in the Federation Academic Classical style and opened for business in 1903.. 55,888pounds 11shillings and 3pence well spent I say!

A walk around the corner to get a view of ..

... the front. I did not know that the court is open and the public can sit in and observe most cases. I think I may have to check the court listings and do just that.. better remember to switch off my mobile phone and check with the judge about taking pics 😉 Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.. 

Numbat shade..

Following on from our walk along Perth Water as we neared the Mends Street Jetty looming large ahead a 23.5m by 6.5m high and 5.6m wide Numbat created in plate aluminum.. soon to be followed by a frilled-necked lizard. It all makes sense when you know that the Perth Zoo is a stone's throw away and that the numbat and frilled-neck lizard were chosen by Connect South (excellent link) to 'represent Perth Zoo’s focus on conservation and its commitment to wildlife.'  The wildlife canopies will be there to provide shade and also a pretty cool visual when coming across from the city to South Perth and the zoo.. plus many fab photo ops when they are lit up at night looking back across to Elizabeth Quay.. watch this space 😉 Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
