To Toodyay by train..

We usually drive when we visit the country town of Toodyay but for a change yesterday we took the train. Taking off from the East Perth Train Station on the Avon Link at 8.50am, arriving at Toodyay Station above and below at 10.20. The train continued on it's way...

... and picked us up five hours later on it's way back to Perth. It was a super comfortable trip through the picturesque Avon Valley and I would highly recommend it..

I'll show you what we did in those five hours tomorrow but there's one thing for sure.. I'm pretty rubbish at taking photos from a fast moving train 😉 Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Gargoyling this way.. or that?

I'm making an unsubstantiated guess that there are many more gargoyles atop heritage buildings in the City of Fremantle than there are in Perth city, based purely on the fact that there are significantly more heritage buildings. Fremantle takes their heritage very seriously, thankfully. Unlike European water-spouting gargoyles, the two pretties here on the St Patrick's Basilica Presbytery, scroll down, are an ornamental touch of Gothic, not nearly as frightening as their European counterparts :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Serendipity encore.. Carnaby's food forrest..

Yesterday I gave a little peek into the wonder that is the Florence Community Park. You may have glimpsed the colourful walls in the background.. walls covered in the most delightful characters. It's worth embiggening the collage below. The Carnaby's Black Cockatoo, endemic to the south-west of WA, now on the Australian threatened species list due to large scale clearing of land for farming, are always welcome to feast on my bottle-brush tree when in flower, as it is now.. it's the least I can do for these amazing birds. The head artist Marina Lommerse explains here how the park came about, super link showing people enjoying the new space when it was revitalised a few years ago, fab pics of the mural too before the gardens took hold. Serendipity, j'adore 💙 Happy Tuesday and happy Thanksgiving to Canadian readers, take care and stay safe..

Serendipity..

'Finding something good without looking for it'. That's exactly what happened when we turned down the wrong street in South Fremantle yesterday. While looking for something entirely different we came across the community space here, the 'Welcome All' message below a delight on entering this space abounding with daises, nasturtiums, lavender and so much more.. and then there were the walls, oh la! Certainly brightened up an otherwise overcast day. I haven't had a chance to edit the many photos taken, so will leave you with this glimpse until tomorrow. Hope you had/are still having a good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe.. 🌞

From here to there and back..

This was the only glimpse of blue sky we saw on Thursday last week as we crossed the Matagarup Bridge from the Perth Stadium to Claisebrook Cove in East Perth. It's easier to park at the stadium than it is in East Perth plus it's a pretty walk across the bridge and alongside the Swan River. Looking back I had to use my semi-fisheye lens to get both the stadium and the bridge into the frame, not sure what happened to the colour!

No one is tucking this bench under their arm and taking it home :)

The view into the cove from the 💓lock bridge mentioned a few posts back..

Such a pretty walk down into the area surrounding Claisebrook Cove.. would look even prettier on a sunny day I'm sure..

Lunch and coffee at The Partisan, gorgeous pics on their website, sunshine and blue skies really do make everything look better :) before heading back the way we came and home. Hope you are enjoying your weekend, happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

A golfer's view..

Spotted a view of the city in reflection above, a view not seen often by me as I definitely do not possess the right temperament for golf  :) Taken on the upper and ground level of the practice area after having coffee at the Wembley Golf Course where P plays regularly. Happy weekend, if you play golf here's hoping you have an excellent round! Take care and stay safe..

Love.. in the right place.

Looking ahead as we approached the pedestrian bridge into Claisebrook Cove yesterday I thought hey up what's this I see! Yup, it's the old💓-lock thing going on. Before you think oh no it'll get out of control.. fear not. Although Perth can be, and often is, a city of romance and Claisebrook Cove is très jolie.. it's not Paris. If you get carried away and place your lock in an undesignated spot, that declaration of undying love will be whipped away toot sweet! Apart from the sign below I have no basis for that assumption though :)

I couldn't decide which shot to use so both they here are. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..
