Curve appeal.. Dazzling Art Deco..

Walking back up to Kings Park from the city on Sunday look what was peeking enticingly above the trees lining Mount Street. An Art Deco delight with stunning views from every curved balcony. The city to the left, the Swan River to the front and Kings Park to the side.. as the song goes, who could ask for anything more 🎵 In it's time Art Deco represented luxury and glamour, it's all here. Have a look at a recently sold apartment here (click all 23 images) oh la! Here's the thing though, the two million + expenses it would cost to live here.. Pokémon Go..

After enjoying a quiet coffee and early morning views over the city and Swan River in the Botanical Cafe in Kings Park on Sunday morning we walked down to the city.. little did we know that by the time we walked back up a few hours later the park would be invaded by multitudes of Pikachu, Marowak and Magmars to name but a few. Fraser Avenue was lined with enthusiastic hunters searching to find, capture and train these 'pocket monsters' during the monthly Pokemon Go Community Day Event. I hadn't realized that Pokémon Go was still so popular.. what do I know about such things :)

Big thank you to Ellen who explained what it was all about and allowed me to snap her hunting and capturing skills! I couldn't resist turning to take a quick shot of Queen Victoria looking down on the scene, what would she have thought about it all.. she has a rather disapproving expression but the way I see it, it was a fabulous sunny winters day, at least they were all out in the fresh air 😉 Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

I can't believe this fab retro beauty by Melbourne based illustrator and animator Michael Lombardi has slipped me by, I looove retro. Check out more of his incroyable commissioned work here.. so cool! This piece was commissioned by Alexander Buildings in Mount Lawley. Got my wide-angle lens back yesterday, repaired for a fraction of the cost of a new lens, had a brilliant time in the city yesterday, lots of lovely Art Deco architecture to show you this week. Amigo and Amigo.. The Birds of Lumos.

The Birds of Lumos last seen here during the Joondalup Kaliedoscope Festival. Looking subdued in their daylight colours during Brookfield Winter Lights Festival but throwing off reflections both on the wet paving and in the windows of Basilica Open Kitchen..muchas gracias amigos :) If you are interested in the incroyable workings of the artistic mind have a look at how Amigo and Amigo were created here. World Chocolate Day..

'Chocolate is sweet

Took a trip to San Churro at Hillarys Boat Harbour yesterday to take pics of chocolaty goodness for World Chocolate Day.. difficult task but somebody had to do it :) Interesting to see that although the winter sun was shining it was only around 15C and the chocolate was beginning to harden up.. would be a totally different story on one of our 35C summer days. It's pretty hot over in the Northern Hemisphere right now, wonder if we will see any gooey choccy shots, hope so! Happy Saturday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. Seat of Acknowledgement..

 The beautifully carved bench looking out onto the Swan River at Point Walter is the craftsmanship of Nic Compton and Nyoonar artist, weaver, sculptor Sharyn Egan.. you can see much more detail here. One of many works that acknowledge Australia's dark past. The Stolen Generations (clear read if you aren't sure about the history) during the 1900's when Aboriginal children were taken from their parents in an attempt to assimilate them into white society. Children being removed from their parents is still happening today, not in Australia, as a parent I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like.. I hope I never have to find out! Bit heavy today, but history is history and facts are facts. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Storms.. with a chance of snow!

When the weather is as wild and woolly as it was yesterday there is only one thing to do.. find yourself a snug spot, order up a coffee and cake and watch the city workers rush to and fro under their umbrellas! Had a wee bit of fun with this one using a free painterly effect, what do you think? I quite like it. Below this is what the sky looked like on our way home along the coast road.
