After taking these shots shots in Fremantle Harbour we zipped over to Freo's town square to take some pics, maybe for the last time, of the two magnificent Moreton Bay Fig trees that have been sitting in Kings Square for over a hundred and twenty years, branches spread out over St. John's Church. They are not well! Palliative care or the chain saw seems to be the difficult decision for the Fremantle council, but so concerned about local backlash, the tree below the iconic Freo Christmas tree for many years, the council is appealing for public opinion. If you are interested to see exactly how much effort the council has put in over the past few years, and are prepared to continue if the public so demands, have a read here, really interesting.. will be keeping an eye on this one. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. If you had to, what would you vote for? P.p.s. thanks for the tip-off Sue 🌳

You, me... and the sea!
Sounds good don't you think :) In a world full of sad, bad news it is always a pleasure to come across a piece by Perth based artist Hayley Welsh. Her whimsical style seen around the world, recognizable by her 'surreal,
fluffy, wide-eyed creatures, with darker undertones of the unknown, reminding us all to
trust love, ignore fear and ‘Listen To Your Little Voice' always comes with an affirmative message, as here 'the best things in life will always be free'. Whether you appreciate her wide-eyed creatures or not her positive outlook is one to admire. One of the many grey utility boxes enhanced during the Water Corporation's Splash of Colour program. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Drama at sea!
Well not so much a drama, more of a banishment.. maybe not so much of a banishment as a 'you can't come in yet' :) Don't let the glimpse of blue sky above fool you, the wind nearly blew me off my feet more than once! It was the perfect kind of day to head down to Fremantle Harbour to see how the ships in the harbour were coping with the wild weather. Driving out onto the South Mole we were just in time to see three harbour tugs re-entering the harbour after stopping a huge container ship coming in from Gage Roads from entering Victoria Quay..
Below, this is where the ocean and myself merged.. thinking we were far enough from the edge a ginormous wave crashed off the rocks drenching myself and a lady standing beside me.. was fairly exhilarating 🌊
Below the tugs heading back into the harbour to await further instructions.. you can see that the harbour has many massive vessels in dock already..
Not sure why the container ship was turned away, the sea may have been too rough or perhaps there was no room at the inn. Whatever the reason there it is below heading back from whence it came. Despite getting soaked by a less than friendly Indian Ocean the trip to Freo, as always, was a fund of photos. Happy Monday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. I should have tied my hair up :)

Flat out Sunday at meerkat manor..
The meerkats are a must visit whenever Aimee and I go to the Perth Zoo, they are sooo cute. Their behaviour goes from crazily digging and frolicking to flat out on their backs. The shot above must have been after said frolicking :) The Perth zoo has a successful Meerkat breeding program 'ensuring a future for the species in case numbers were to collapse in the wild'.. let's face it, endangered species are an everyday fact in this world we live in. While most snooze in the midday sun, there is always one looking out for imminent danger. Here's hoping you have a flat out not look out Sunday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. have a quick look here💙

Good old Louis..
Coincidentally half an hour after buying a gorgeous bunch of tulips from the wholesalers markets, regarde.. flowers in the window of Louis Vuitton on King Street in the city! Can always be sure that the LV window is fabulously photogenic and the reflections of old and new buildings, last seen here, will be worth the diversion off Murray or Hay Street. Shot below taken from across the street and I still can't get the whole building in, oh how I miss my wide-angle lens, still in for repairs! Not serious in the big picture but definitely helps to take the big picture :) Happy Saturday, take care and stay safe..

Orange and the new black..
Looking down onto Murray Street from the top level of the car park two things caught my eye. Firstly the amazing colour of the brick frontage of heritage listed Andrews House. Can't find any details on when the original cream surrounds were painted black but the combination, along with the matching orange autumn/winter leaves of the plane trees out front looks incroyable. Secondly looking across to the right, the rooftop bar of the Prince Lane was deserted, something to do with the steady fall of 💧 over the last few days! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Colouring up a grey day..
Yesterday was as grey as the day before and probably as grey as it will be today! What to do to brighten things up! For me it was a trip to the wholesale flower markets! What do you do when you take a shot you like but no part of it is sharp and clear.. art it up and blur to the max, it's all about the colour right :) It's the first time I've been to the wholesale flower markets, it was so worth it value wise..
I came home with the beautiful red/orange tulips below for so much less than I would have paid in a florist shop.. can't wait until they go all sculptural :) Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe... P.s. last shot to show you exactly how grey it was 😉
