Driving along Lord Street in East Perth yesterday the skies matched the drama on the walls of Storm Dance & Design. Titled 'Dancing into the Night' by super talented Perth street artist Mike Shime, check out more of his art on Instagram here. A fabulous discovery on a wet and dreary day. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Tantalizing tulips..
What a colourful weekend it was.. two blooming events in one day! At 11am when we arrived here at the Araluen Botanical Park, 35km south east of Perth, the other half of Perth's population that wasn't at the event we had just left were already here for the Tulip Festival. Araluen Botanical Park is beautiful at all times of the year but in Spring spectacularly so.. every year it takes my breath away to see the tulips en masse, the mixed colour displays and the many varieties, some fabulously flamboyant as above, others with frilly edges as below..
Standing out from the crowd..
... and of course my very own beautiful blossom :) I love taking people pics at events like this, will show a few more on Wednesday. Happy Monday, take care and stay safe...

Blooms and blessings..
It has been a bloomin' colourful weekend so far.. I have a feeling it's going to be a flowery kind of week ahead.. but I'll have to tell you all about it tomorrow if I'm going to get this posted in time. Heartfelt wishes go out to all affected by the disasters happening right now in the US, it seems it never rains but it pours. Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe...

Spotlighting the transiency of street art..
Back in 2014 street art in Perth took off in a really big way with the inaugural FORMPublic event bringing together talented Perth street artists with renowned artists from around the world. It was incroyably exciting to see artists at work on projects, some small and some so immense that cherry-pickers were required. I did show the finished work in the car park in Murray Street here and ROA and Phlegm at work here..
The car park and surrounding area is being demolished as part of the Perth City Link development. This is one of my favourite projects, linking Northbridge with the CBD for the first time in over a hundred years. These shots taken from the top level of the car park over the road.. I will keep my eyes open to see if the fabulous ROA and Phlegm murals, unlike most of the smaller pieces, survive the progress! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...

Flat tires and fiesty falcons..
Can you believe there was one nail on the road and as I was driving I went over it! While we were waiting for a new tire for my car to arrive we had two equal distance options.. a shopping centre or a walk around a nature reserve, which would you have picked? In my minimalist period :) I'm not much of a shopper so Lake Joondalup it was. The Australian hobby, a small but aggressive falcon was very high up scanning the lake to see what was on the lunch menu, below he spotted it.. a dragon fly, P got an excellent shot of it in its beak as it swooped back up.. I didn't :)
Sitting quietly below an Australian ringneck so named because of the characteristic bright yellow ring around the hindneck.. I don't spot the ringneck all that often so will always try to get a shot, not the best but it gives you some idea of the vibrant colours. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

845 Hay Street.. it's like coming home!
Do you have a favourite bookshop, a bookshop that you find irresistible and can't pass by? If you are addicted to books like moi I think you might find Elizabeth's Bookshop, Perth's oldest bookshop, literally too tempting :) Directly opposite the car park we use in the city the old rugs, the chandeliers, the sofas and most of all the seductive array of second hand and out of print books beckon me in like an old friend. I know I've shown Elizabeth's before but can you ever have too much of a good thing :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. I was after Ernest Hemingway's 'A Moveable Feast' but apparently any copies that come in go out as fast, amazing that he is still as popular today!

Redhead in Northbridge..
There was something slightly familiar looking about that flowing red hair floating atop the water in a bubble bath spotted on the wall in Parry Lane Northbridge. Painted by Perth mural/installation artist Daek William who's incroyable work you have seen here many times and just one part of a long wall collaboration with fellow Perth artists. Titled 'Bath Bomb' by the artist..'a lady having a fruity dream'.. sounds good to me :) Love the colour combinations used on this one. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...
