Happy Mother's Day from Perth..

A mother is your first friend,
your best friend
your forever friend..

From my garden to you, happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate today.. I'm looking forward to going to the markets, skyping with my Sydney famille and enjoying dinner prepared by Aimee, can't wait :) What are you up to today? If you are lucky enough to spend the day with your mum, cherish the time together. Miss you mum, always. Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe... P.s. my regular  feathered friend below sends his regards also.. someone should tell this Kookaburra that it's not polite to laugh with your mouth full :)

Art Deco reflected in Art Deco..

Above the heritage listed Lawson Apartments reflected in the windows of the Atlas Building shown here and here. On the opposite corner of the Esplanade and Sherwood Court the Lawson apartments were built in 1937 and refurbished in 1986. I would give my eyeteeth to see inside one of these apartments.. the front apartments would have a fabulous view over to the Swan River.. for now anyway, until the planned high-rise starts going up around Elizabeth Quay.. keeping an open mind but I know I'll hate it :) Happy weekend, take care and stay safe... P.s. last shot the Lawson apartments sitting side by side with the Atlas Building..

When all else fails.. join the circus!

I wonder how many of us had the notion to run away and join the circus when we were youngsters. I don't know about you but I still have days like that. I had my chance while in Fremantle on Wednesday. Circus WA was open for term 2 enrollments. Housed in the  Old Customs House building on Phillimore Street in the Fremantle West End Heritage area.. the location alone is almost enough to forget about the wonky knee, fear of heights and oh yes.. age :) and sign up! Fabulous old beauty don't you think? Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...

Nankeen night heron..

If like me you are an inexperienced birder, it's helpful to take along someone who knows what to look for and where to look! The Nankeen night heron above was almost impossible to spot high up in the paperbark trees that grow around the swampy edges of Herdsman Lake. The conversation in hushed tones went like this.. P pointing up 'see there it is' me 'where', P 'right there', me looking through my long lens 'oh there!' You can see what I mean below, if you didn't know that they were there you wouldn't right :)

So much easier to see when sitting out in the open on the top of the branches.. nankeen night heron mug shots below :) Still a few months away from breeding season it was without the two or three white head plumes that are it's breeding plumage. I might have to return in September to see that! Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Paper lanterns.. and cake!

I've always enjoyed the decor in Greens & Co. in the inner city suburb of Leederville. The multitude of paper lanterns adorning the ceiling make a spectacular 'up-drop' (new word) to compliment the equally spectacular choice of cakes. I would recommend sharing.. their slices are tres generous :)

Looking out onto Oxford Street on a busy day can be entertaining, although I'm usually too busy with above mentioned cake to notice until it's too late! I'm up and out early today to go birding with P.. if I catch a bird or two you'll see them tomorrow :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe...

Post-box with attitude!

I often see unusual and quirky letter-boxes on other blogs so I thought you might enjoy the stocky legged, put something in me if you dare, post-box I spotted when we were driving through the suburb of Roleystone a few weeks ago.. he made me smile :) Although a wee bit hideous I did like the attempt to make it less so by adding the tiny lizard crawling up that sturdy leg.. can you see it there below, I wonder what the postie thinks of this chap :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Namaste..

Spotted on my travels last week, no artist name but I thought it was a lovely way to begin the new week.  A week filled with positive energy and hope for the future. I'm more than a little afraid to look at the news this morning for results of the French elections, perhaps after a strong coffee :) Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..
