She was ridin' along on a push bike honey...

....she was singing this song (ear-worm alert).. go on I dare you :) A sight common enough I'm sure in Paris, Amsterdam and other cities but it occurred to me when I impulsively took these shots while on St. Georges Terrace a few days ago that I don't recall seeing anyone other than the bike police or bike couriers riding around the city on two wheels. It was the flash of yellow that caught my eye, then those gorgeous boots :) but it was more than her stylish attire, it was her air of confidence.. she totally owned that space! As the lights changed she rounded the corner and disappeared down onto busy William St. I take my hat off to her, she is a braver woman than I! Do you ride a bike in your city? Happy weekend, take care and stay safe... p.s. I hope you're humming that happy song :)

An exercise in symmetry..

Blue skies once again in the city yesterday. You may or may not believe me but it's true, I haven't touched up these shots at all.. oh well ok maybe the second shot just a little :) I've shown His Majesty's Theatre on the corner of Hay and King St.before but yesterday I thought I'd have a bit of fun with the details. Built at the beginning of the 1900's in what was described as 'a fine example of Federation or Edwardian Baroque architecture'.. I'd say the latter, what do you think?

Whichever architectural style, I prefer it so much more to it's next door companion below! Will have to go to a performance here soon to show you the inside, it's luuuverly! You can have a sneak peek here. Hope you've had a good week, happy Friday, take care and stay safe... p.s. only four more days until Love-a-tree-day on the 16th May.. who's hugging a tree and showing with me :)

Nature versus sport..

Lovely spot to sit and ruminate :) To the right of where I was standing to take yesterdays shots Perry Lakes Reserve was looking green and lush after the rains we had last week, not enough though to make an impression on the two lakes within the reserve that were mostly dry...

... and to the left the Bendat Basketball Centre.. WA's state of the art basketball training facility opened in 2010. Check out the much better images of the interior and exterior than mine on the link.. So what's it to be? Hot and sweaty shooting hoops.. or daydreaming/reading/listening to the birds under the canopy of eucalyptus trees! One of those options seems so much more preferable to moi, bet you can't guess which :) Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe...

Plane perfect!

On the way home from an orthopedic appointment on Monday afternoon we traveled back through the suburb of Floreat. You can see why this is a preferred route. Underwood Avenue is planted with Plane trees as far as the eye can see and at this time of the year they look particularly pretty. Took these shots around 3pm.. you can see that the Perth weather, although a wee bit chilly early morning and evening, has been a delightful autumn high this week of 24C, parfait! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe...

Mexican marsupials...

Spotted this work by Mexican artist Edgar Flores aka Saner while in Victoria Park last week. On the side of  Zucchero Espresso Bar, painted during the inaugural FORMPublic back in 2014. Saner expresses his art using 'icons from his culture, from the past, images from the Mayans and the Aztecs and Mexican symbols'. Gracias señor Saner for adding colour to a cloudy, dull day. Hope all the mums out there had or are still having a super day, happy Monday, take care and stay safe...

The Chemist..

Waiting to cross Hay Street early on Thursday morning gave me time to take a quick shot of the 'at a quick glance' not so attractive building on the opposite corner. If you don't get distracted by the Federation style of the Read Buildings built in 1895 next door to the left, you will see that underneath the ugly, inexplicable colour there are some very distinctive Art Deco embellishments on this building. My only clue, above the tall front window, is that it was once a chemist. I'm hoping that this is just the first step in it's restoration journey back to it's former glory! Happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate today, I'm very much looking forward to breakfast à la Aimee :) and Skyping with my Sydney famille..take care and stay safe...

Mediterranean refelections...

Reflections of the Horseshoe Bridge amidst strings of garlic and cans of Greek and Italian olive oil.  Reflected in the window of Kakulas Bros.in Northbridge, purveyors of continental groceries since 1929. Entering Kakulas is like stepping back in time into a Mediterranean spice market, everything from French jam to almost impossible to find Echo Milk & White biscuits.. tres photogenic inside also as you may remember here. Can anyone tell me where this week has gone :) Bon weekend, take care and stay safe...
