As different as night and day...

It's all about the lighting. I love dolphins, who doesn't love these gentle creatures, symbols of good luck when riding along-side ships at sea, and yet! The wishing-well sculpture, dedicated to Rajah, Mila and Echo who died in mysterious and unsolved circumstances in 1999, a sad story, sits at the end of the boardwalk at Sorrento Quay. By day it's all fun in the sun with the seagulls below, but by night.. is it just me or do these three have a slightly sardonic, even demonic leer.. yeh I know, it's just me :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe...

...et chocolat! If you can't have a Ben & Jerry's double scoop English toffee crunch in a choc lined cone after your birthday dinner without feeling the guilt when can you! Salty old sea dog...

 On the wall of the Fremantle Woolstores on Cantonment St. a mural by a favourite Perth artist Paul Deej aka 'el Deejo' that pops out despite the overload of tagging proving that you can't keep an old sea dog down :) Hope you've had/are having as relaxing a weekend as I had, happy Monday take care and stay safe...

Chillaxing :) in Freo...

No gardening, not a paintbrush in sight.. tres bon! We drove down to Fremantle Harbour early yesterday morning with nothing particular in mind. Breakfast and people watching on South Terrace aka the 'cappuccino strip' .. looks like people on the other side were watching moi aussi :)  

Stopped in at the Fremantle Markets to buy flowers and listen to Mani on the piani :) you can listen to him here also, he knows how to tickle that keyboard!

A stroll over to the harbour where C.Y. O'Connor stands looking out over what is described as 'a personal triumph'.. the harbour..

Not much going on there, usually way more tooing and froing! Home after lunch to have a wee 'nanna nap' parfait! Looking forward to more of the same today :) Hope your weekend is just as relaxing, take care and stay safe...

Basilica reflections..

Constructed in glass and mirror Brookfield Place has to be the best spot in town for taking reflection shots. Above looking into Basilica can you tell what's real and what's reflection? Bit of a clue, the man sitting at the bar to the right is not a reflection but a poster.The shot below just because I like it, hipsters are alive and flourishing in Perth :) What are you up to this weekend? I'm having the laziest weekend I can get away with, after the past two garden/house-painting weekends I think I deserve it! Take care and stay safe..

It was that kind of morning.. early, warming up to 30C but not nearly there yet. Sitting beach-side with a coffee and muffin from SOcafé at Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club five minutes from home. To the right pristine beach as far as the eye can see, not a cloud in the blue sky and to the left... a hairy chien a little distracted by my breakfast, he had no chance :) Hope you have a fab Friday, take care and stay safe...

'May They Be Remembered For A Blessing'..

 The Jewish War Memorial in Kings Park was erected in 1920 'to honour soldiers of the Jewish faith who died in WWl, a plaque added in 1953 to commemorate those who died in WWll'.  Designed by sculptor Pietro Porcelli 'the Ionic column is crowned by a globe of copper bearing the Star of David, and on each corner of the column the Lion of Judah. It's one of my favourite memorials but because of it's height reaching up into the ancient tree at it's side, one of the hardest to get a clear shot. I was happy last week to catch a group of scouts keenly studying the history of the monument, always good to see. Happy Thursday, shalom..
