Oops! I did it again..

Yeah yeah yeah :) Can you believe it! I talked my sister into coming to the Beaufort Street Art Markets with me on Sunday and as always for moi, a coffee is essential on arriving anywhere! We sat across from the market behind the big bold Beaufort St. sign chatting unaware that ... time was running out, dramatic huh :) To make matters worse because we strolled up the street to find yesterdays mural by the time we got to the market it was overs! Hadn't checked the closing time, 1pm.. gah! The good thing is I still managed to buy something faaabulous, show you tomorrow.. wearing it! Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe... p.s. it was 24C yesterday, below, office workers in the city enjoying Central Park gardens during lunch, not too shabby!

"The world is still a weird place, despite my efforts to make clear and perfect sense of it"..

“Yesterday's weirdness is tomorrow's reason why.”
Hunter S. Thompson, The Curse of Lono

Well said Mr. Thompson! In case you're wondering I did make it to the Beaufort Street Art Market yesterday, P and Aimee went off on a 22km Father's day hike and this little piggie and her sister went to market :) tell you more about that tomorrow. While in Mt. Lawley, a mecca for street art, down an alley off Beaufort St. I found this excellent portrait of American journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson by artist and film maker Nils Westergard. Although I'm not familiar with his work, I'm sure Thompson, who popularized the 'Gonzo' style of jounalism will be familiar to my American readers. Nice one Mr. Westergard! Hope you had a good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe...

Sunday bubble & squeak!

A slice of architecture, mixed with a daub of art, a dash of weird/happy, a cup of coffee followed by something sweet and lovely.. bubble & squeak.. leftovers! Do you sometimes go through your shots and think hmmm! why didn't this one make the cut? Didn't get much time yesterday, so here's hoping these offerings don't give you indigestion :) The embellishments atop the old and new above highlight the age difference. Take a seat on Oxford St. Leederville. Cemented in, those chairs aren't going anywhere, you may remember the mural across the road here..

Johnny Pascual aka Monkeybizzness 'traveling the world in a monkey suit to bring smiles and spread positive happiness'. In this world of 'bad things happening' this can only be a good thing, furthermore I see that he uses the same camera as moi, excellent! The guy to the left looks pretty determined not to smile.. that made me smile :)

First rate coffee in FOAM. I once thought about doing a barista course, not sure if I could cope with a queue impatiently waiting for their first fix of the day, oh la! the pressure :)

Looking down James St. in Northbridge from the Cultural Centre on a crisp spring day...

Aimee taking shots that could be the very ones you will see on Daily Details..

... and here the sweet and lovely ingredient of my bubble & squeak. My granddaughter, the last time they were over from Sydney, getting comfy and watching telly with granddad :) Hope that you're having a super weekend, I can't decide today whether to clean the house, go hiking with Aimee and P or go to the Beaufort Street Art Market, what are you up to? Enjoy, take care and stay safe...

First weekend of spring and.. Google Plus.

We are officially into spring and the weather is behaving accordingly.. all in the one day we've had chilly early mornings, warm sunshine and afternoon showers, couldn't be more perfect! I always seem to show you the more ugly and bizarre Australian native plants, thought you might like to see that we do have many lovely delicate natives also. I wouldn't swear my life on it but I think the first three are of the Callistemon (bottle brush) genus, the above quite rightly called 'purple splendour', that is the actual colour, no touch-ups..

I confess to not having a clue what the two below are but wouldn't they make fabulous Aussie style decorations for the Christmas tree :) Here's the thing about Google Plus, I know many of you use it and I can still visit your blogs, but there are a few who regularly visit and for some reason I'm unable to connect back. Is there something Google Plus users have to do so that non users can still connect.. and no, I'm never going Google Plus :) Hope you have a happy and safe weekend, take care...

'Windows'.. no explanation needed..

They say it’s never a good sign when an artist has to explain his or her art, I'm not sure I agree totally with this theory, sometimes a bit of 'what the heck?' debate can be enjoyable :) However this super creation in recycled steel by Wayne Jeffrey titled 'Windows' needs no explaining, each misshapen window looking out onto a splendid Araluen vista, I just wish I'd had the foresight to shift my angle to frame a view of the tulips, that would have looked so good.. ah well, next time! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...

Plus les escargots M. Pâtissier s'il vous plaît..

Looks like there was a run on escargots, P's personal favourite. Early Sunday morning, 7am, before we set off to Araluen Botanic Park and before we had to queue for a table, we called in at the Mary Street Bakery, on Beaufort Street for breakfast. Slow cooked eggs, with a side of avocado and polenta chips, two cups of steaming hot coffee, and a salted caramel donut for later.. not much later :) sooo good! Check out the menu, what would you have picked? Aimee making the difficult choice below.

A few weeks ago I read a review of the top ten bakeries/patisseries in Australia, the number one choice was the Bourke Street Bakery, I agree, have been there many times and it absolutely deserves that No.1 spot, but.. here's the thing, WA didn't score on the list and my question is this.. did anyone actually make the apparently 'too hard to make the effort'  trip over to Perth to check out our fabulous bakeries, I think not! Therefore my personal mission will be to show them to you here.. that's quite alright, my pleasure :) Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Skate Park Scuba Shark..

We often talk about the transient life of street art.. classic example here, not so much gone as obstructed! Sandwiched between the wall of a skate ramp and one of those scary new loos that give you a certain amount of time to 'get things done' before the door slides open revealing all :) While in Leederville last week we stopped by the Skate Park, which in typical skate park style is covered in street art. You might notice I haven't signed the top shot, that's because I didn't take it, I passed my camera up to a very helpful young skater who hung over the rail to take the above shot for me, merci beaucoup. Hope I'm not too late for Monday mural! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe...p.s. would be fab if all sharks looked so friendly :)
