Monkey magic....!
I wasn't expecting this! Spotted while walking down James Street from the Northbridge Piazza yesterday. Not sure why the disguise, he was good, no need to hide! Moonlighting maybe :) Darn, he looked up and spotted me across the road..I don't know about you, but if I get caught taking a shot of a busker and they suss me, I have to drop in a donation..well it's only right yeh! Bit disconcerting being checked out by a chimp :). It's getting a wee bit chilly in the evening here in Perth, I might have to break out the heatbag! Have a fab Sunday, take care and stay safe.....

Reflections in granite.....
One of the things I really enjoy about the redevelopment of Forrest Place in the city is the beautiful West Australian granite paving, the pinks, greens and greys look wonderful when dry but fabulous when wet. Hope you've had a good week and are looking forward to a relaxing weekend, I didn't have time to scratch my...head :) yesterday, so I know I am! Happy weekend, take care and stay safe.....

Having the last word.....!
Sitting above the Forrest Place entrance to the General Post Office building, on one side the Australian emblem showing a kangaroo and an emu holding a shield representing the states and territories. There's an old story that says the reason the kangaroo in this particular emblem is looking back towards the city is because the maker of the shield hadn't been paid for his work so he designed the kangaroo looking back towards those who owed him money, not sure if it's true but I hope so, I like it :) Below on the other side the British lion and unicorn as a reminder of our colonial heritage. I absolutely can't believe it's Friday once again AND that we're half way through 2013, is anyone else 'feeling the speed'? Take care.....

'Grow Your Own' view of Perth.....!
Here's the thing, it was only when I downloaded that I realised there was a bit of 'smooching' :) going on in the background, do I delete or do I make the call that a) they're in Forrest Place the hub of the city and b) they're pretty far off and sideways on. I like the shot with the pile of City of Perth Winter Arts magazines leaning up against the now familiar and mostly accepted Grow Your Own sculpture by Perth born artist James Angus. I didn't linger, with a slight shift to the left I took the shot below keeping in mind the artist's concept of utilizing the 'cactus' as a 'lens to see the city with a different attitude' :) Haha! I dig it, do you? Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.....

Looking in..and out.....!.....
One of the installations that I wanted to see since reading about the hand made poppies was 'From War to Remembrance' created by Hamish and Samantha from Smash Creations, each poppy and grass blade was individually crafted and if you pull in the second shot close enough you can just make out the words that originate from the Ode of Remembrance, what patience! On display in the foyer of the State Library this exhibition focuses on the history of the RSL in WA and it's role in the community and will be there until the end of June. The three points of the poppy represent reflection, movement and formation and just in case you get the yen to make a poppy of your own here's how. Hope your week is going well, happy Wednesday take care and stay safe.....

Biggest Morning Tea..........
During May and June teapots will be 'brewing up big' as amazing people all around Australia host 'Biggest Morning Teas', celebrating it's 20th year, to raise awareness and funds for the Cancer Council. I was lucky enough again to be a guest at Jenny's 'biggest morning tea'. Every year Jenny, a long time family friend, presents her eager regulars with a sumptuous array of cakes and savories, washed down with coffee and tea poured from silver teapots, sipped from pretty floral china cups...oh yes and did I mention the porcelain topped teaspoons, it's all in the details oui! It was perfect this year that Jenny should be celebrated as a guest of the Cancer Council at a VIP morning tea along with other long time hosts in recognition of their dedication over the years. Bravo ladies, and gentlemen too I believe! It's been a relaxing WA Day holiday, back to business :) today, happy Tuesday, take care... Oui c'est moi dans la teapot!
