It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.....!

We spent most of yesterday morning on Hillary's Beach and park taking pictures of the first in a series of five triathlons in the 2012/13  Telstra Triathlon Series. Honestly I was totally exhausted just watching (and clicking), Aussies are such a darn enthusiastically sporty lot! They started off with a 720m swim, which for obvious reasons was my personal favourite section.. come on ladies who wouldn't appreciate the sight of many, muscly men in various stages of undress running towards them haha!
As one group of swimmers plunged in.....
...another swam in to shore, pulling off their wetsuits as they ran to claim their bikes for the 20km next stage of the triathlon. The majority of the 833 participants in the triathlon were under 50, but 80 were older including a man in his 70's, fantastic!! You might not believe it from today's shots, but it was a mixed race, there were women, I may have been a little distracted..tomorrow is another day! Hectic weekend, catch up tomorrow. Even though my weekend is over, hopefully you will still be enjoying yours, take care.....

Magpie-lark..or is it.....?

I have three birdbaths in my garden, two at the back and this one just outside the window where I sit and write the blog. It's a fund of photo opportunities especially in summer when the birds really appreciate a bit of a cool down, the word has spread..'this is a good spot, three pools and a smorgasbord'! This male Magpie-lark landed, checked out the vicinity for pussy cats, tested the water temperature (as you do) and plunged in with careless abandon (as you do)! The baffling thing is that if you check the info on the Magpie-lark it reads 'the name Magpie-lark is quite misleading as the species has no link with either the magpies or the larks', I'm definitely feeling misled haha! I was hoping for a relaxing weekend, before I realized we have a million things to do. How about you, much left to do before 'C' Day! Make time to chill, take care and stay safe.....

A flame for Aline.....

Virginia at Paris Through My Lens you were spot on, it was a flash mob. Such fun and for a wonderful cause. I've chosen this link to show you because it explains what it was all about while at the same time giving you a chance to see a little more of Perth and meet Lisa Scaffidi, Perth's first female Mayor and a jolly good sport!  Probably the biggest flash mob we've had to date in Perth, the mix from very young to 'of a certain age' was brilliant. I thought it was going to be really easy to spot Aimee with her flame coloured hair.. until half the mob came out wearing red caps pffft! If you're any good at playing 'Where's Wally' I'll give you a few clues, black cap, orange hair, red dress white collar, last shot the easiest (top right)! It was a real buzz to watch, maybe next time I'll join in with her, I was quite the dancer in my 'youth' haha! TGIF even if it does mean that Christmas is only days away, happy Friday, take care and stay safe..p.s. the squares you see here are the grid for the new Water Labyrinth unveiled a few weeks ago.....

Pssst! Can you keep a secret.....?

I went into the city on Tuesday to take pictures of a 'secret' event, one that I only knew about because Aimee was involved and because she wanted me to take some pictures..'but you can't tell anyone Mum, it's a secret'!! Well, by the look of the crowds that were just 'hanging around' camera's at the ready at the designated time of 3pm, there had plainly been a fair bit of  'but you can't tell anyone it's a secret' going on. Media camera's on every corner of Forrest Place in the city centre were an indication that something big was about to occur, any guesses? So here's the thing..I'll tell you about it tomorrow haha! I'm finally on the right page as far as the day of the week is concerned, happy Thursday, we survived the 12.12.2012, excellent.....!

Too much of a good thing..(As you like it!)

Who would have thought that despite the jolly smile there was a serious fashion mishap occurring 'behind' the scene (not to mention the front)!! Yup that's right, Pere Noel, was sporting the biggest Santa 'wedgie' I've seen in a long while. Have to say I love the outfit, who doesn't love a man in pantaloons haha! I'm 'assisting' Aimee, baker extraordinaire in the making of one hundred and twenty mini Christmas puddings tonight, will catch up tomorrow..ahh Christmas, such fun!! Btw I think I got a day ahead of myself on Monday when I said happy midweek, but I'll say it again now, because well...it is!! Take care....

Snug as a bug in a rug.....!

There's nothing like a snooze under the shade of a tree on a hot afternoon, and believe me yesterday was hot..34C! Can you see the snout and arm of the joey popping out of mum's pouch in the top shot. The birth and after birth cycle of the kangaroo never ceases to amaze and fascinate me, for many more kangaroo facts head over to Red Nomad's incredibly informative post to which I'm linking these shots. The Christmas tree went up yesterday, maybe NOW I'll get into the Christmas spirit...bah humbug haha! Happy mid week, take care.....p.s. if you want to see something REALLY heart stopping have a quick look to see what Bill and his dive buddy came face to face with on their last dive, there can't be anything much more scary than a 5mtr white pointer coming straight at you ....!

Translucent.....

This sculpture by Anne Neill makes me smile when I pass by it, called 'People in the City' it stands in front of Central Park on the corner of Hay and William Streets in the city, it represents the hustle and bustle of city life, crowded street corners with people waiting for the lights to change to cross the road and quite often you see people having their photo taken mirroring the movement of the walkers in front, unfortunately not on Saturday when I took these shots. I thought afterwards I should have coerced a stranger walking by, sometimes it's a curse being so shy haha! Happy new week, anyone panicking about Christmas approaching at the speed of light? Take care.....
