Five Bar.....
A few weekends ago when Dave came over from Sydney on a business trip we only had a few hours with him before he had to catch a plane up to Port Hedland therefore a quick lunch it had to be! There's so many trendy, quirky venues to breakfast, lunch and dinner here in Perth these days that we're a bit spoilt for choice. Aimee suggested Five Bar on Beaufort St. in Mt. Lawley, she'd been there before with friends and remembered that the food had been excellent. If I were to write a review of our experience it would read something like this: the service was delightful, the food delicious, the decor eclectic and the chandelier to die for, we'll be back! Short and succinct oui! The best thing of all was having Dave here in Perth to enjoy it with us. Have a great day, stay safe.....

In between showers.....
I didn't have to go far for today's images, just into my back garden. I took them at about 7.30am yesterday morning when we had a short break in the weather. It always makes me smile to see the bigger birds like these pink and grey Galah tuck into the seeds, like this one below face deep, while the doves sit nearby with anxious looks on their faces. Well the doves had the last twitter yesterday, because two minutes after I took these, the rain pelted down, the Galahs scarpered for cover (moi aussi) and the doves, ignoring the rain settled into the trays and cleaned them out, nice work! I hope the skies are a little clearer in your part of the world and you have a terrific Tuesday....

Welcome to winter.....
They did say it was going to be a 'batten down the hatches' kind of day in Perth yesterday, and as 'hit and miss' as the weather reports can sometimes be, they were spot on. Looking up the coastline from Trigg Point to Sorrento Quay the wind and waves were lashing against the beach, not a day for walking..even the seagulls and cormorants were having a hard time clinging onto their island refuge. Looking forward to enjoying some warmth and sunshine vicariously through images from the Northern Hemisphere. Happy Monday, take care.....

Ode to a mouse..(no, not that one).....!
There was a mouse
who made his house
in the bottom of a tree
the leaves kept him warm
until there was a storm
and then he had to flee...
by moi...
Well I may be a Scot, but a poet I'm not, oops I did it again haha! Fear not Robert Burns, your ode rules supreme, although I seem to remember that at the many Burn's Night dinners we went along to as teenagers (in the middle of Africa) we young'uns possibly didn't appreciate the drama of the saga of the 'wee timorous beastie' as much as we should have. I spotted this little 'hoose' at the bottom of a Plane tree in the city and was overcome with poetic nonsense, I hope you enjoy a little bit of 'silly' in your Sunday also, stay safe.....

Reflections around the Bishop's See.....
When we were in the city on Monday my aim was to take some shots of the 'Bishops See' which I'll tell you bit more about when I get the actual pictures. Forgetting that it was a holiday, I hadn't banked on the garden being closed, another day. The gardens are at the top end of St. George's Terrace and are surrounded by skyscraper office buildings, most of which have glass facades, thus making the perfect foil for reflections, the reflections in the top shot are of the buildings in the second, which are across the gardens from them. I think I might have mentioned (a few times) that St. George's Terrace is definitely my favorite spot in the city, it may look all 'high powered' business, but the mix of very old and new works so well together, you'll see..I plan to show it in more detail so that you can see why I love it so much. The weather's not looking too bright in Perth this weekend, huge storms on Sunday apparently, sounds like a good day to finish the book I've been reading for ages, hope you have a wonderful weekend, take care.....

Over the hill.....!
I don't believe that just because something has lost it's shine and passed it's used by date, that in the right setting it can't still be a pleasure to behold, look at all that gorgeous rust! Earlier in the week I showed you all the gleaming, beautifully restored tractors on the farm we visited last weekend, I was also very attracted to these old beauties which although they will never see a lick of paint, have found a lovely spot to rust away peacefully until the end of their days, don't you just love the last one, this old tractor made quite a unique plant holder. Happy Friday, stay safe.....

Twice as nice (or, sitting ducks).....!!
I spotted these two Australian Shelduck slumbering alongside the Swan River when we were walking on Monday. The female, with the white ring around her eyes, completely ignored me, but as I got a little closer the male began making a peculiar honking sort of noise to let me know I was getting a tad close for comfort, fair enough no one likes a lens stuck in their face when trying to kip!! I loved the colours in their plumage and the 'vicars' collars, tres chic! So, after terrorizing the ducks (kidding!), I spotted these two Black Swans sailing regally by, looking back two seconds later those beautiful long necks had disappeared under the water in search of food. It's a weird and wonderful world out there in the wild! It's grey and wet in Perth today, it had to happen sometime, will have to find some colour in other ways. Have a good day, take care.....
