Dad was 16 years older than Mom and came from a deeply troubled childhood. Mom was from a big, happy, blended family. Dad was quiet (except with those he knew well), prone to moodiness. Mom was cheerful, optimistic, very outgoing.Normahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12685538277690762655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8095932046263663417.post-63343797515045154272015-11-14T00:14:03.463+08:002015-11-14T00:14:03.463+08:00This is such a beautiful post, Grace. He grew up in a large family on a fruit orchard in New Jersey and eventually made a career on Wall Street. She was born in the coal fields of Pennsylvania. Both of her parents died within a few days of her birth in the 1918 flu pandemic. She was raised by a much older brother in the working class side of Southampton, Long Island. They both got jobs in Manhattan and met during World War II (he was terribly nearsighted and relegated to the reserves). And now here I am in the Midwest.
