Growing up in Zimbabwe/Zambia, both landlocked countries, the first glimpse of the Indian Ocean I ever had was when the famille piled into Dad's old jalopy and traveled hundreds of miles to Beira in Mozambique. Gosh those holidays were fun, I had my first holiday kiss in Beria :) Is it destiny then that I should find myself, for more years than I care to mention, again living not hundreds of miles but a mere five minutes away from the very same ocean.. with no wish to be anywhere else! This is where I belong.. not in, not on, but beside the water, j'adore! Happy Tuesday, the official 1st day of Autumn here in Oz! Really looking forward to seeing..

The photo is perfect to illustrate the importance of the sea and its location is to you. How fun to find your special place which is so different from your early childhood.
ReplyDeleteSweet memories.

ReplyDeleteBy strange coincidence, I have a work of art hanging on one of the walls of my house that was inspired by Zimbabwe.

Happy Autumn to you Grace! Autumn is my favorite season, so I'm a little jealous. The beach is absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAs the American folk song has it, 'tis a gift to come down where we ought to be. Beautifully illustrated.
ReplyDeleteA beach would be my second favourite place to belong. Good choice. :)

ReplyDeleteIncredibly beautiful shot. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteLovely to hear your tales of two sides of an ocean Grace

First day of Spring here - and lousy cold!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo of this great place !
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine you picking any other place. You really seem to love where you are. I'd have a hard time choosing. I totally love where I live. It happens to be on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the US, if not the world. For some reason though, I'm always drawn to wilderness places.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to that , I grew up near the sea and live now among the mountains. Long to move back or closer to any ocean.
ReplyDeleteWonderful that you found your place of happiness.
Nice photo Grace. Like me, I like the sea, but don't enjoy swimming.
ReplyDeleteSo you've visited Beira, my hometown, how nice.
I've lived in the desert, in the mountains, in cities - and I too prefer being by the water.
ReplyDeleteThe Indian Ocean is so beautiful...I'd love to live near an ocean, any ocean!
ReplyDeleteThis is an incredible view!
ReplyDeleteOh, Grace, beautifully done. You captured the spirit of this theme day in such a lovely way.
