Ephemeral.. 'that moment when..'

There is no place higher than on dad's shoulders.. that magic moment when dad first scoops you up onto his shoulders and for a fleeting instant you feel like king of the world.. my dad was 6ft tall so my sisters and I were lucky to have many such magical moments. It's not the image I had in mind for today, that one is so ephemeral I haven't taken it yet, but I will :) Very much looking forward to seeing your interpretations of the CDP theme, happy 1st of November, only 54 days left until Christmas, I know right! Take care and stay safe...

  1. It doesn't take long before kids are too big for Dad to get up on the shoulders!

  3. The highlight of any kid to be able to watch something from Dad's shoulders...
Christmas is approaching far too quickly Grace, isn't it?

  6. Something I never did! Not a great fan of heights anyway. ;-)

  7. These are wonderful, beautiful, life-affirming moments. I think it will count when Willa is old enough for my shoulders, too.

  8. An original interpretation. Mine is more traditional, but hope it will still be enjoyed!

  9. Oh yes, this brought back some great memories. I used to love to sit on my dad's shoulders in a big crowd. I can still smell his hair product, whatever it was. It smelled good and safe.

  10. Nice hats! Mom must have made them wear them. :-)

  11. Oh yes! I remember only too well how I'd howl when Dad wanted to put me down!

  12. A moment of joy which is fleeting but the memory lasts forever. Soft light playing on wisps of hair in your top pic Grace is a beautiful touch of ephemeral.

  13. Only 54? What a cheery thought.

  14. Then the day comes when you say, 'I cannot, you are too heavy', and a new stage in the life of your child begins.

  15. Know what happens with more than one child old enough to sit on one's shoulder? Generally, somehow mine did not fight. They had a way of remembering who sat there and who was next.

54 days until the big day reminds me of being a child and racing to the door when the evening newspaper arrived so I could look at the top corner of the front page to see how many days were left until Christmas.

People tell you and next you are telling other people the same...

  23. Clever interpretation! I like that you noted your ideal ephemeral shot is so fleeting you haven't had a chance to take it yet. : )
