The Guardian of Highgate..

Fabulous street art is around every corner in Mt. Lawley / Highgate, inner city suburbs of Perth.. with more added each year during the Beaufort Street Festival. The Guardian of Highgate by Perth artist Drew Straker is without doubt one of the most eye-catching, even more so with the addition of a  'cobblestone meets disco ball' pattern on the laneway pavement. This commissioned piece is on the wall of St. Michael 6003 Restaurant on Beaufort Street. I hope you had or are still having a quieter weekend than I :). Happy Monday, take care and stay safe...p.s. if you follow the Australian political scene.. interesting day for us today!

  7. Why, your politics are just as upsetting and messed up as ours! Love your angel, and the angel YOU are. We shall overcome all this nonsense. . . . SOME day!

  13. Thank goodness we have you to brighten the day - politics is sooo grey & depressing!

  14. St. Michael has known challenges but never before, I think, a tank. The pavement is brilliant.

Yeah, I heard about your PM. Sheesh. And why is your conservative party called the Liberal Party?

  15. The interesting day turned out to be not so interesting. I don't know if you are familiar with the White Angel blog, whose owner lives in Tasmania, but it well worth having a look at her post showing Sheffield murals. They aren't like inner suburban works, but very good. http://whiteangels-thoughts.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/sheffield-tasmania.html

  17. Incredibly colourful Grace - I love it. Colourful is also a word we can use to describe your politics in recent turbulent times. But not today... business as usual I see.

  25. You are so lucky to live in such a colourful city, Grace! (In spite of the high summer temperatures!)

It's always interesting to know what's going on in Australia. Our Canadian Prime Minister seems to think a lot of T. Abbott. :)

  28. I think this is the first mural we've had that looks like stained glass. Quite a bold statement. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
