It's that guy again.....!

Daryl in New York gave me the best excuse (I only needed one!) to post another shot of the very cool sculpture the 'unidentified photographer'. Her comment yesterday 'interesting ..where's his camera or is he using an iPhone?' made me laugh, but she's right, the image yesterday didn't show very clearly that he's holding a Box Brownie in his left hand..as Jack in Hartford would say..'my bad' :) Here he is from another angle with the Christian Science Church in the background. I hit it with a little HDR to sharpen his handsome facial features, don't you think that when the light is really bright, the details on bronze sculptures can sometimes become a bit indistinct! The wind is howling outside as I type, it's so fantastic to get some substantial rain, we need it desperately. Happy Thursday (already!) take care.....

  1. It's a wonderful sculpture Grace - the detail is excellent. The church is quite a building - it looks Egyptian almost.

  2. I don't know if you use photoshop or not Grace but if you do - go to image, then adjustments , then go to shadows/highlights and you can adjust the dark parts that you find when taking pics like that. This info was passed on to me from Lowell and I find it works so well for a lot of things.
I really like this sculpture and was glad to see it from another angle.

  4. He is looking good indeed! I also struggle with bright lights outdoors (usually midday lunch is the only time I have free to take photos), I love what you did with the HDR. Nice seeing his Brownie today! (Also, I left a comment at my blog, but forgot to do so here: I *loved* your hilarious comment about the clocks not telling the same time yesterday! LOL:)

  6. This one is exceptional. I love the photographer's casual stance in front of that cool building, with the trees framing him. (And it is always an honor to be quoted on your blog.)

  7. What is the canvas style bag on the ground? I'd best visit your previous post.

  8. Oh well this is a real treat, I didn't think we'd get to look around the other way and I was actually wondering what he really looked like yesterday! Fab!

  9. Original building of the Church of Christian Science with photography that we saw yesterday.
Here it rains a lot, so we could give us some water.
    Hugs and kisses.

  10. It is brilliant to see this sculpture from different vantage points. I would never imagined the location was the same in both photos. You have given me something to think about :).

  11. I had a Brownie at one time. It was a nice little camera at the time. Glad you're getting some rain. I've been told I'm all wet so I don't need any rain!

  12. I had a box brownie when I was a kid. Wish I had had the smarts to keep it in a box in an attic somewhere.

  13. The tan stone makes a perfect backdrop for the stature but the sign is a bit hard to interpret.

  14. You are right about capturing the details of bronze statues against a lighter background. I don't do HCR, but at times I use the shadows feature on iPhoto to lighten the darker areas to reveal details. Other times, I am OK with leaving the statue dark and treating it like a silhouette against a lighter background.

  15. Light does make photography difficult doesn't it....?
That's a good shot, and the building behind is impressive.
It's a pity they are heretics innit?

  19. Yes, bronze is often difficult to photograph but it looks great here! Thanks for showing this fine sculpture from a different angle.
