Chinta..don't mind if I do ..ll

How is it possible that this quirky homewares plus cafe has been here for five years and this is the first time it's come to my attention! Scarborough Beach Road begins at the coast and passes through several suburbs before it peters out and changes name. Chinta (meaning love in Balinese) sits in a small block of shops on a busy stretch of the road in Doubleview (named because you can see back to the Indian Ocean and forward to the city). You'd think in this spot the parking would be horrendous but not so, turning off the main road behind the shops you'll find an enticing glimpse through the wooden door above. In the garden area under a canopy of umbrellas the most eclectic grouping of chairs and tables I've seen in a cafe..are you feeling a little chilly, do put a blanket over your legs, game of chess, why not!
Inside treasures galore! There was a white marble Buddha I might have bought if I'd had a spare $950.. not really :) Main thing pour moi, the coffee was good and the cake (shared) was très délicieux! I hope you find something delicious to enjoy this weekend, take care and stay safe.....

  1. I certainly see some things that catch my eye. You did buy something besides a cafe I hope, Grace? Raining here today, maybe we'll have some sun tomorrow.

  2. first of all, I do love that door and you prepared a wonderful composition! This place is plenty with lovely stuffs, I would like to explore more, it's very interesting!Cake and coffee is something in my list for the weekend, but for now, Cezar is still working in his notebook and Luna is dreaming with butterflies in her favorite chair, so I'm happy because I'm visiting your blog, enjoying your beautiful pictures and adventures. Thanks for sharing this coffee time moment with your friends!
    Happy Weekend!

  5. I would love to go and relax for some times...
I like that they put a scarf on that Buddha's status. :)

  6. Next time you go, count me in!

The blankets in cafés I've seen most often in Germany in the winter. We actually need them here now, it is POURING with rain and cold... So much for beautiful May!

  7. Your city offers so many unique attractions in terms of shopping and cafes...I can see why you might have missed this one. But it looks very nice, although if it's cold enough outside that you need a blanket, I'll take my din-din inside. Oui? Colorful shots!

My last words on this post: Do you remember a book called "If You See the Buddha in the Road, Kill Him"? I think the title meant that you have to find your own path and ignore all those who claim they have the only way to truth. So, you saw the Buddha, but you didn't literally kill him; you simply did what the Buddha taught - meditated and saw the wisdom in not shelling out all the moolah for something you didn't need! :)

  9. It looks like you'd almost have to rely on word of mouth to know what was hidden behind those doors! It's very colourful and looks like great fun!

  16. I love finding places like this. Once when visiting friends in California I stumbled on to a garden shop that turned out to be so much more than just a "garden shop". I was there for a couple of hours just looking around.
