Yesterday afternoon Aimee and I went to Hyde Park where under the shade of the magnificent Morten Bay and Port Jackson Fig trees there was magic afoot! By the time we arrived the Hyde Park Fair was well underway, little boys with balloons exploring, floaty dresses and mystical horned beings strolling..the gent in the long shorts (or short longs) was definitely mystified haha! It was sad to see the lake so low in water, barely enough for the ducks to dive with confidence, there's rain forecast for the next few days but not enough I'm sure to make all that much difference. It's a holiday in WA today, so of course the builders who were supposed to come weeks ago, will be arriving on my doorstep at the crack of dawn...today! Ah well, I didn't want a sleep-in anyway, it's going to be hectic so will catch up tomorrow, hope your week starts well, take care.....

Looks like wonderful fun, Grace. Poor ducks almost appear to be walking thru the pond.
ReplyDeletePoor little ducks! But those tall trees are really fabulous, and I see that you have very strange creatures walking around..
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week, dear Gracie!
That does look like a great afternoon and lots of fun! That pond does look shallow!!! Poor guys! Hope you have a good start to your week!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun day!!! Love the costumes in the second to last photo!!!
ReplyDeleteLorts? Shlongs? Is 'WA' Western Australia? And why not a holiday in all Oz? So many delicious questions &photos today! Enjoy your mystery holiday & lucky guests. Wish I was one of them!
ReplyDeleteAloha, Dear
Wonderful dazzling colours and styles in those costumes! And love the huge trunk detail of the Moreton Bay! And clearly your light is still summer bright too!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun time was had by all!

Moreton Bay Fig-trees are just the most magical place for kids to play with their dips and curves. A real pity about the water levels ... hoping we all recieve a good drenching soon ... the wetlands pond near home has all but dried up.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun outing, the kids must've loved it and what a cast of characters! Those poor duckies though, hoping there's a bit of relief in sight...? Happy beginning of week!
ReplyDeleteMy, that is a big trunk. Good luck with the demolition, sorry, building works.
ReplyDeleteI bet he is thinking "Save the children, they could turn into these two!" The rain came - just in time for the builders. Hope they don't make too much mess.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a fun day. I love fig trees.
ReplyDeleteThe companion of the man with the sort-of shorts has much more sense than he does. The man with the not-short not-long pants is examining those colorful dresses with a little too much interest.
ReplyDeleteA quiet and nice ambiance...

Moreton bay figs are amazing trees. Their root system makes them look as if they could pick themselves up and walk away. Looks like a fun day was had by all. Wishing you rain and cooler weather Grace.
ReplyDeleteWonderful day at the park!A feeling of Sunday, a wonderful Sunday! Love the tree in your first composition, and you got beautiful shadows and lights in your clics!Well done!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, and looks like a fun event!
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone was having a great time. I love that huge tree!
ReplyDeleteoh fun ... except for the ducks .. paddling around in shallow water ... i hope you get a lot of rain ...
ReplyDeleteAll fab shots but I especially like the top one. Magnificent tree beautifully framed.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of those fig trees, Grace! Amazing. And the festival looks like so much fun. Lots of great color and you captured very well the excitement and energy of the event.
ReplyDeleteWe're short on rain here also. Lots of fires now in the woods in central Florida. Some folks have had to be evacuated and some buildings have burned. Sad, but it happens most every year.
What gorgeous shady fig trees!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lot of fun!
